Have you ever been 'up close and personal' with a Dangerous Animal?
I must admit, some creatures scare the fucking life out of me - mostly dangerous spiders but also sea creatures. I know the chances of getting 'done' by someothing deadly is remote but this is why I have no ambition to go to Australia etc.

I was stung by a jellyfish is Spain many years ago, not poisonous but it fucking hurt - a lifeguard asked if I could piss in to a cup and pour it on the sting - I couldn't go so he poured loads of vinegar on it and I had 2 red lines on my leg. The stinging died down after a few hours but it scared teh shite out of me.

Apart from that my Aunts Jack Russell bit me when I was 8 years old but it was my fault for pulling its tail - still ended up in A&E for a tetanus (JR's are fucking fast nippy tossers)

So, anyone been 'done' by a venomous snake, spider, sea creature?

Re: Have you ever been 'up close and personal' with a Dangerous Animal?
I've been in peril loads of times, mainly through my own stupidity.

I won't bore you with the dolphin in Sharm that tried to drown me because I know I've told it on here two or three times (but come on, it's a great story isn't it?) but I've nearly come unstuck loads of times particularly snorkelling as I'm such a shit swimmer. Fortunately my missus is the best swimmer I've ever seen and represented her country back when she was a teenager. I usually grab a hold of her foot and she tows me back to safety. She's so quick I could probably use her to water-ski behind!

We were snorkelling in Cuba when we came across a really beautiful sea snake that was a lovely orange and blue and it just lay there motionless looking at us.

I wanted to see it move so I asked her to go back on land and get a stick so I could give it a gentle poke and make it move. She said it wasn't a good idea but I convinced her it would be fine. I said I'd watch where it went until she got back.

She went off to find a stick and five minutes later returned with one. Predictably, because I'm so shit at swimming I'd lost sight of it. We looked around but it had gone.

When we got back to the beach the bloke who was in charge of the wind-surfing boards asked if we'd seen anything good so I told him about the sea snake. He told us that particular snake is one of the most poisonous things in the sea. He said that they are curious about humans so look quite friendly to us but if it felt threatened it would attack. He said 'that snake bite you- you die'.
